Belden Inc. announced that it will manufacture select RUCKUS Networks ICX Ethernet switches at its Pune, India facility. This signals an important step in the integration of RUCKUS, a Belden brand, into Belden through early initiatives focused on leveraging the combined company’s manufacturing, supply chain, commercial and operational capabilities to create value and accelerate growth. The initiative extends RUCKUS’ significant existing presence in India into manufacturing while demonstrating how Belden can use its global operating footprint to support the RUCKUS portfolio and expand opportunities in key markets. The result is a more scalable local model that will better serve customers and partners. Belden’s global manufacturing and operational footprint provides opportunities to integrate RUCKUS capabilities into existing infrastructure rather duplicating efforts. India provides an early example of this approach. RUCKUS has an established presence in Bengaluru, its largest global site for R&D and customer success, as well as a Research & Design Centre in Chennai. Belden also operates a Customer Innovation Center in Bengaluru and manufacturing capabilities in Pune. By bringing RUCKUS production into Belden’s operations, the combined company is creating a more connected presence across innovation, customer engagement and manufacturing. The initiative also supports India’s broader Make in India agenda, which encourages increased domestic manufacturing and domestic value addition. Local production strengthens RUCKUS’ ability to serve customers and partners in sectors where locally manufactured and supported technology infrastructure is increasingly important. Manufacturing integration represents one component of Belden’s broader RUCKUS strategy. The combination of Belden and RUCKUS will improve operating efficiency through the leverage of common infrastructure and capabilities, while accelerating growth through deeper customer relationships, expanded market access and a broader portfolio of networking and connectivity solutions. The India manufacturing initiative represents an early milestone in Belden’s ongoing integration of RUCKUS. Sony has announced the debut of its first-ever fisheye zoom lens for its E-mount ecosystem, the FE 8-14mm f/3.5 G lens. The FE 8-14mm f/3.5 G lens combines optical performance, high-speed autofocus, hybrid versatility, and compact mobility. The Sony 8-14mm zoom lens boasts 16 elements in 13 groups, with both internal focusing and zoom mechanisms to keep the build compact and balanced. The fisheye image moves from an equally solid circular fisheye to an equidistant diagonal fisheye as the lens zooms from wide to tele. Product Highlights include Full-Frame | f/3.5 to f/22 Aperture, Circular-to-Diagonal Fisheye Zoom Range, Autofocus Design | 5.9" Close Focus, Ideal for Video, Photo & VR Imaging, Independent Focus, Zoom & Aperture Rings, AF/MF/FH & Zoom Lock Switches, Dust- & Moisture-Resistant Design, Rear Filter Holder & Cutting Template. The optical design—which features extra-low dispersion, aspherical, and extra-low dispersion aspherical glass—controls color fringing across the frame and enables a minimum focus distance of just 8.7". The FE 8-14mm f/3.5 G achieves its high-performance autofocus through two linear motors primed for both stills and video. The lens can accommodate the high-speed, 120 fps tracking available on Sony's advanced camera bodies, as well as achieving reliable tracking when shooting with high-frame rates. Other video benefits include minimized focus breathing and Linear Response manual focus, which ensures predictable and controlled focus pulling. Additionally, Sony has optimized the new lens for professional 3D VR capture when used with compatible cameras. Sony's sophisticated optical design yields one of the lightest fisheye zooms on the market, landing at 11.1 oz and 3.3" in length. Its size does not concede durability: dust- and weather-resistance, a fluorine front element coating, and a bespoke lens hood all prove the lens can work in the elements. A rear filter holder allows for the application of light-modifying filters, while the aperture ring, aperture click switch, focus mode switch, focus hold button, and zoom lock switch all offer precision on-body control.
