Square announced a new integration with Apple that enables Square sellers to connect their locations to Apple Business from their Square Dashboard, so they can seamlessly manage and synchronize key business location information that appears on Apple Maps. Rather than managing multiple channels separately, sellers can now maintain their Apple presence alongside the rest of their business in Square. The integration makes it easier for sellers to ensure Apple users see up-to-date and accurate information across Apple Maps, Siri AI[1], Apple Wallet and other Apple apps. Square Sellers who connect their locations to Apple Business can: Manage their brand and add a logo, across connected locations, allowing them to enhance and extend their brand presence to Apple Maps place cards, directly from Square Dashboard. Automatically sync key business details for each connected location, such as hours, address, and phone number, so this information stays up-to-date and accurate across Apple Maps, Siri AI, Apple Wallet, and other Apple apps and services without manual updates. Turn discovery into engagement across connected locations with action links such as Menu, Order, Pickup, Delivery, Book, or Schedule Appointment, so customers can take action directly from an Apple Maps place card. The integration launches across Square’s eight supported regions – for eligible sellers with physical locations – with this initial feature set. Additionally, in the U.S. and Canada, eligible Square business-verified sellers who do not already have an Apple Business account can enroll directly from Square Dashboard, further simplifying the path to discovery. For sellers that connect their account, the integration is designed to make it easy for sellers to turn Apple discovery into measurable demand, without adding operational overhead: Drive discovery where customers are searching: Sellers gain increased visibility, with claimed locations getting 30% more views on Apple Maps.[2] Convert discovery into action: Action links on Apple Maps create a seamless path from discovery to action – increasing clickthrough rates by 31% across website, call, and action buttons.[3] Save time: When sellers update their business information in Square, it stays in sync across their connected locations on Apple Maps place cards automatically. The integration is designed to meet sellers where they are. For example, Food & Beverage (F&B) sellers can add action links to their Apple Maps place card that can connect customers to their Square ordering, pickup, delivery, or menu experiences; health, wellness and beauty businesses can connect customers to their Square booking and appointment experiences; and retailers can keep key business information and branding accurate across their locations. The Apple Business integration is now available to Square sellers across Australia, Canada, France, Ireland, Japan, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

QuEra Computing announced a collaboration with HPE to integrate neutral-atom, fault-tolerant quantum computing with on-premise high-performance computing (HPC) environments powered by the HPE Cray supercomputing platform. QuEra and HPE will enable organization access to quantum computing capabilities on-premises by integrating neutral-atom fault-tolerant systems with the HPE Cray supercomputing platform. The collaboration gives HPC centers, national laboratories, and enterprises a path to bring QuEra's frontier systems into new supercomputing infrastructure. Useful fault-tolerant quantum computing will run alongside classical supercomputing in hybrid workflows where HPC handles large-scale classical computation and the quantum system tackles selected subproblems that are impractical or impossible to solve classically. Organizations that already operate large classical resources have new choices in how they bring quantum computing into their workflows — through the cloud, on-premise, or a combination of the two. QuEra and HPE are pursuing integrated testbeds, hybrid algorithm co-design, software interoperability, and system-level performance benchmarking, targeting deployment alongside the HPE Cray supercomputing platform. HPE Cray supercomputing provides an industry-leading HPC foundation for hybrid quantum-classical workflows, enabling QuEra's fault-tolerant systems to be tightly integrated with a customer's most demanding workloads. QuEra has worked with HPE since 2025. At HPE Discover Las Vegas 2026, HPE showcased magic-state, featuring QuEra to demonstrate the company's vision for hybrid quantum-classical computing. With this announcement, QuEra now offers two synergistic routes to its fault-tolerant systems, offering organizations a choice to take one or both. For example, organizations will be able to deploying on-premises for sovereign or tightly coupled workloads while drawing on the cloud for elastic simulation and burst capacity.

Cisco Systems, Inc. closed the gap through new Splunk innovations, giving customers the ability to safely and cost-efficiently scale AI wherever their data already lives. This includes an expanded partnership with NVIDIA to bring Splunk AI to on-premises customers. Splunk AI features come to on-premises customers with Cisco AI POD for Splunk, the newest addition to Cisco Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA. New Tokenomics solution in Splunk Agent Observability tracks AI spending and coding agent usage in real time, tying adoption to business value. Splunk's latest security innovations give teams a faster, safer path to scaling the agentic security operations center. Splunk and AWS formalize a multi-year agreement to co-develop security solutions built to outpace AI-driven attacks. Self-managed Splunk AI, accelerated by NVIDIA. Cisco and NVIDIA are expanding their partnership to bring self-managed AI directly to Splunk Enterprise customers, across their own on-premises, private cloud, and air-gapped environments. Cisco Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA is the reference architecture that brings the full AI stack together, built from Cisco AI PODs. The newest of these configurations, Cisco AI POD for Splunk, brings Splunk AI to on-premises customers with new AI runtime software, Cisco infrastructure, NVIDIA accelerated computing, and Kubernetes-based architecture – pre-validated and optimized for Splunk AI workloads. Cisco AI POD for Splunk is available. For customers who have their own infrastructure, partners like bitsIO, Wipro, and World Wide Technology are ready on day one to help customers stand it up. Splunk AI Assistant (available) and Agent Launchpad (coming later this year) run on this layer. Together, they bring ad-hoc agentic investigations and custom agent building for a broad variety of use cases including the agentic SOC to teams that run Splunk in their own data centers. Customers can also self-host a selection of open and proprietary generative AI models for their Splunk Enterprise workloads, including the Cisco Deep Time Series Model, Google Gemma 4, and OpenAI GPT-OSS 20B, with NVIDIA Nemotron open models in the coming months. Teams can use the model best suited for the job without sending data outside their environment. New observability innovations give Cisco customers one full-stack view into how their AI agents are actually performing. Splunk Agent Observability, with its new Tokenomics capabilities, is closing that visibility gap and giving organizations a real-time view into agent performance and AI token spend. This enables teams to see exactly where and why AI costs accumulate before they become a budget problem. Splunk Agent Observability, announced initially as an on-premises offering, is available in Splunk Observability Cloud and in Cisco Cloud Control, extending visibility to customers working across the Cisco portfolio. It evaluates agent and model behavior, observes performance across the AI stack, and applies runtime guardrails that block inaccurate or unsafe actions, like hallucinations or leaking sensitive data. As part of Splunk Agent Observability, the new Tokenomics solution extends that visibility to spend – tracking and attributing token expenditure across AI agents and employees' use of coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor. It will also forecast consumption patterns to project where spend is headed before a billing period ends, using the Cisco Deep Time Series Model. These insights help organizations to operationalize a tokenomics framework and tie AI spend to business outcomes. The Observability Studio enables teams to ensure new applications are "born observable," measurable and production-ready from the start. The new Network Intelligence App brings Cisco network topology, device health, and events into Splunk, so network teams can trace an alert straight to the device behind it and the network around it. The new editions for Observability Cloud – Essentials and Premier – simplify how customers buy and expand observability across their business, with cost-effective log analytics to debug application and infrastructure problems. Splunk is advancing the agentic SOC by combining enterprise-wide telemetry with specialized AI agents powered by leading frontier and domain-specific models. New purpose-built agent capabilities expand the Splunk Agentic SOC Workforce and mirror how elite security operations teams work across detection engineering, proactive threat hunting, autonomous investigation, coordinated response, and policy governance. By correlating rich, full-stack machine data across network, cloud, application, and identity environments, these agents deliver deep reasoning and transparent, explainable verdicts that cut alert noise and accelerate mean time to remediate. New Exposure Analytics enhancements deliver on that with broader asset coverage, historical change tracking, and business-specific risk insights. Connecting exposure context to live security activity across Splunk, Cisco, and an extensive third-party ecosystem, so teams see their entire estate rather than one vendor's slice of it. Agents use that context to pinpoint what matters most and where risk is active. New capabilities in Splunk Enterprise Security Essentials bring agentic security operations and greater autonomy to far more security teams. Splunk Enterprise Security Premier adds deeper agentic autonomy and the full power of Splunk Enterprise Security. Splunk and AWS are expanding their long-standing relationship into joint product development through a multi-year agreement. The work advances the agentic SOC to match the speed of AI-driven attacks.

Apple has officially launched its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. Featuring a book-style inward-folding design, the device comes with a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch cover display. TrendForce estimates that iPhone Duo shipments will reach approximately 5 million units in 2026, giving Apple a 24.8% share of the foldable smartphone market and making it the second-largest brand behind Samsung. The iPhone Duo's inner display module features a 10-layer stack of ultra-thin materials, combined with a nano-texture surface treatment to reduce reflections and make the crease less visually noticeable. The device also features a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover. It weighs around 254g and measures approximately 5.2 mm thick when unfolded and 11.3 mm when folded. Apple has omitted a dedicated periscope telephoto camera to minimize thickness and conserve internal space. Instead, the 48 MP main camera provides 2x optical-quality zoom, while a side-mounted Touch ID sensor replaces Face ID. The iPhone Duo's design suggests that Apple is not simply pursuing a larger foldable display. The company is differentiating the device through crease reduction, long-term reliability, consistency between the inner and outer displays, and thinner integration of the display module with the overall device. Additionally, iOS 27 expands the foldable experience through enhanced Split View for two-app multitasking, continuity between the inner and outer displays, and interfaces optimized for different folding angles. For Apple, the iPhone Duo integrates Apple Intelligence and Siri AI to support natural-language interactions, personalized contextual understanding, and in-app actions. Deeper integration of AI and multitasking interfaces with the larger foldable display could transform the device from a hardware differentiator into a new interface for AI applications.

AirPods 5 remove up to 50% more noise compared to AirPods 4 with ANC thanks to a new multiport acoustic architecture and improved computational audio algorithms. Along with the benefits of ANC, AirPods 5 feature an improved Transparency mode that more naturally represents voices and nearby sounds, helping users stay connected to their surroundings. Adaptive Audio dynamically blends Transparency mode and ANC based on the conditions of a user’s environment. Conversation Awareness lowers the user’s media volume when they start speaking, helping them more easily talk to someone nearby. Inspired by AirPods Pro 3 and re-engineered for AirPods 5, a new multiport acoustic architecture and next-generation Adaptive EQ deliver richer, more detailed sound across an even wider range of ear geometries. This makes Personalized Spatial Audio more immersive and dynamic, so the user feels like they’re surrounded by whatever they are listening to. For users with an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone, AirPods 5 allow users to tap into helpful intelligent features hands-free and on the go. Siri AI, which is rolling out in beta in iOS 27, is a profoundly more capable and conversational assistant, offering personal context understanding across messages, emails, photos, and more, as well as app actions and broad world knowledge. Siri AI sounds more natural than ever, with expressive voices that a user can customize. Dictation now captures what users say with greater precision. Siri already works seamlessly with apps from Apple’s vast ecosystem of developers, so users can continue to take action in the apps they already use, like texting a friend in WhatsApp or playing a book on Audible. With Siri Interactions on AirPods, users can discreetly respond to Siri AI by simply nodding their head yes or shaking their head no. Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence, breaks down barriers by letting users communicate across languages. After setting up Live Translation in the Translate app and downloading their desired languages, AirPods users can access the feature by simultaneously pressing both stems, by saying “Siri, start Live Translation,” or by using the Action button on iPhone — allowing them to hear a conversation in their preferred language. Enabled by ANC and computational audio, this capability is now available across the entire AirPods lineup. For users who want even more, AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case deliver great improvements to the AirPods experience. Force sensor with volume swipe arrives on AirPods 5, a first for the open-ear form factor, adding the ability to quickly adjust volume by swiping up or down on the stem. Battery life is also improved, with up to five hours of playback with ANC on a single charge — one hour longer than AirPods 4 with ANC, thanks to a redesigned battery. This extends up to 22 hours with the charging case when listening with ANC. The wireless charging case supports Apple Watch chargers, Qi-compatible chargers, and USB-C. The new AirPods 5 were built with the environment in mind and drive progress toward Apple’s ambitious plan to be carbon neutral across its entire footprint by 2030. They are made with 40% recycled material overall, including 70% recycled plastic in the wireless charging case and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery. AirPods 5 are manufactured with 35% renewable energy, like wind and solar, across the supply chain, and meet Apple’s high standards for energy efficiency and safe chemistry. Their paper packaging is 100% fiber-based and can be easily recycled at home. Customers in the U.S. and more than 65 other countries and regions can pre-order AirPods 5 for $129, with availability in stores beginning Friday, September 18.
